It’s been said that most businesses begin because someone had a problem they needed to solve. My problem was pretty simple. I love the ocean but I also have had a life-long desire to cover my bum and thighs when getting out of the water. 

Like many women, I didn’t want so much “rear” exposure when hanging out around the beach or pool. I like to stop at the store on the way home without completely changing, and I don't like to walk around with wet saggy bum marks.  

I decided to design what I wanted and after a lot of trial and error, I finally had my first batch of skirts made. 

I thought RipSkirt was just a beach cover-up, but I quickly found myself wearing them every day, everywhere. I’m low maintenance, I’m messy and I have big dogs. (often wet and sandy dogs) Though my kids are now grown, I quickly realized I would have loved to have this skirt when I was wrangling my twin boys and their little sister. 

The reviews and requests started rolling in. There were a lot of other low maintenance, water-loving women, and they too were wearing their RipSkirts everywhere—traveling, hiking, golfing, cycling, running errands around town. They wanted more lengths, more colors and sizes. That is when it clicked, and I realized what I’d created was an incredibly comfortable and multi-tasking skirt. The water shedding, quick drying cover-up, well that was just a bonus!

I'm happy to say that the “I” in this story is now a team, and we are charting a course based on your input. Our goal is not be everything to everyone, but to create a few comfortable, practical, multi-tasking pieces that make you feel good about yourself, your day easier or your holiday more relaxing.
